Preparing to query can be an exciting and anxiety inducing experience, especially for those like myself who are gearing up for the query trenches for the first time. To prepare, I created my own query tracker spreadsheet to list agents I’m interested in sending pages to. The tracker also includes:

  • A ranking system of high, low, and medium priority for each agent

  • The agent’s typical response rate

  • Whether the agency has a blanket rejection (a rejection from one agent is a rejection from all)

  • Response type (if they ask for 10 pages, 50, a partial, full, or if they pass)

  • Feedback from the agent

  • And more!
